River Northwest is a Spirit-filled, Full Gospel church directly affiliated with Pastors Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne and The River at Tampa Bay Church in Tampa, Florida.
What is worship like?
Our church has been blessed with anointed and talented musicians who lead us into worship every week. We love contemporary music but the most important part of worship is not the sound, but the heart of the one worshiping Him.
What Bible translation do you use?
We generally preach from the New King James Version (NKJV), but if there is another translation you prefer, it should not be difficult to follow along.
Is River Northwest family friendly?
Yes. We love seeing young families come through our doors. From nursery through the teenage years, our ministries help children and youth learn the Word, speak the Word, and grow in their relationship with Christ.
Do you have child care?
We provide child care for all ages on Sunday mornings. Children are generally grouped into ages 0-2, 3-7, or 8-12. On Wednesday nights childcare is not provided. However, we are a very family friendly church and encourage you to bring your little ones so you can experience the Lord together!
Do I have to dress up?
No. There is no dress code. Some people dress up and others prefer T-shirts. God is less concerned about your shirt and more concerned about your heart.
Can I come if I am not a Christian?
Absolutely. We welcome the backslider, the agnostic, the prodigal, the skeptical, the atheist, the saint, and the sinner. You are welcome to come, hear the Word, encounter the Spirit of God, and participate with Heaven.
Do you offer small groups?
Yes. Home Bible studies and discipleship groups meet throughout the month. Contact the church for current times and locations.
Does the church serve the community?
River Northwest loves Bremerton and Kitsap County. Our teams share the gospel, serve through nursing-home ministry, and look for practical ways to bless our community with the love and power of God.
What do you believe about marriage & sexuality?
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman that are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10) We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of River Northwest Church.
